How to Add Custom Fields on TUIO

Custom Fields on TUIO are useful in 2 main areas:

For creating forms and adding fields that can gather responses when the form is shared.

For manually adding information into various areas of TUIO like student profiles, specific enrollments, and parent profiles. 

Custom Field Overview

Custom Fields can be created for 3 areas:

1. Student Fields

Any Custom Fields that are added as a Student Field will exist - ready to be filled in - in the Student tab profile for existing/imported/manually entered Students, or populate in the student profile for a new registration being enrolled to the organization via a TUIO form with the field already on it. 

2. Parent Fields

Any Custom Fields that are added as a Parent Field will exist in the Parent tab profile for Parent users on TUIO. The fields can be filled in manually or populated off of a form response submission.

3. Enrollment Fields

The Custom Fields created under Enrollment Fields are for when specific information is required related to an Enrollment in a program, and will exist in the Enrollments tab in the individual Enrollments. As an organization admin, it is up to you to decide if you require an Enrollment Field, but they can be useful to add information related to the Program. Once again, you can fill these in manually or have the fields populated from form responses.

So now that we've gone over the utility of custom fields, let's take a look at how to create them!

Custom Field Creation

First go to the Forms tab, then click on where you want the Custom Field to be created: Student, Parent, or Enrollment.

Once you are in the selected tab (image is Parent Fields), click the green plus sign button to add the required field, and then you can make edits to the field.

You'll notice some of the options are more specific to the form function/appearance like Heading and Content, Digital Signature, File, Terms & Conditions but the other options can be very useful for collecting student information. 

As an example, I added a multiple choice question so Parents can pick if they would like to be contacted about offering a donation. 

Now that the Custom Parent Field has been created, it can be added to a form and filled out by a parent, or filled in from the Parent profile tab. The same applies for Student and Enrollment Fields, but the location in TUIO is different, as mentioned earlier.
